Around 30 people gathered to explore how this area can contribute to making Oslo an even better city.

Until the end of November, Oslobygg and Linstow will continue to invite relevant agencies and key stakeholders to rethink urban development. Building on insights from the parallel assignment for the old Veterinary College, we will collectively explore how the area can become a valuable addition to the world's best city.

A New Model for Urban Development

No one can solve societal challenges alone. Therefore, we must find new ways to collaborate. The co-creation process at the Former Veterinary College is a completely new approach to urban development, aiming to address exactly that.

The process emphasizes open dialogue and includes residents, public agencies, researchers, and the business community from the very start. This approach opens opportunities to develop sustainable solutions before formal processes begin.

We strongly believe that early collaboration fosters understanding of different perspectives and that we can find better solutions together than we could individually. By working across sectors, we can facilitate effective services, avoid major conflicts, and create a space that benefits everyone.

As Gro Sandkjær Hanssen, a researcher on participation and governance processes in urban development, said during Oslo Urban Week: "Oslo Municipality has the most competent employees in all of Norway, but they need to talk to each other to leverage all their expertise. At the Former Veterinary College, co-creation has been organized so that professionals with a passion for their fields meet to find good, shared solutions."

We believe this co-creation model can not only contribute to building better cities but also play an important role in addressing future societal challenges.
